How soon we forget... soul bomb was banned on slayers on the VBL bot because there was an amplification of damage glitch which meant instant death for the vamps. Prior to FHF pointing that out, the soul bomb was the routine response to vamps that used blasting gem on mines. The rule came into being to deal with a flawed item on the map, eos.

I am not certain whether you were around when that happened or not, Opaca, but I would be very surprised if you had not heard it discussed at some point.

Whether soulbomb was intended to do that much damage or not is irrelevant. The item was overpowered, yet it only was banned after FHF pointed out it was a bug, because of how reluctant VBL is to make rules that benefit vampires.

If soulbomb was meant to be that way by the creators, would you still say that it wasn't flawed?

Not taking sides on the argument, but this is a valid point. Assuming many of you have played or still play DotA (2), a good example would be the tiny avalanche / toss combo which was bugged and caused avalanche to deal more damage to chucked units than it would to regular ones (something with damage instances on all units, and the tossed unit being seen as a seperate entity on the ground as when it was off the ground, making some of the damage instances from avalanche hit the target twice). Was it bugged? Yes. Was it balanced? Arguably, yes.
